Countdown Calculator

Set today’s date and time, then the moment you’re counting down to. You get the full breakdown — days, hours, minutes, seconds — plus running totals in seconds and minutes.

Example: with Today's date 2026-07-13 · Current time (h:mm AM/PM) 12:00 PM · Count down to: date 2026-07-14 · Count down to: time 12:00 AM → Time remaining: 12 hr 0 min 0 sec.

From now to then, in every unit

The calculator turns both moments into timestamps and subtracts. The default answers a classic: from noon, tomorrow (midnight) is 43,200 seconds away — 12 hours × 3,600. Counting to a date like December 25 from July 13 at noon gives 164 days 12 hr, or 14,212,800 seconds. A same-day target works too: from 12:00 PM, 2:35 PM is 2 hr 35 min — 155 minutes, 9,300 seconds.

Weekday targets are just dates: from Monday, July 13, 2026, Wednesday is July 15 (2 days) and Saturday is July 18 (5 days) — enter the calendar date and read the days figure. Totals never round oddly, because a day is exactly 86,400 seconds; every row is the same interval expressed in a different unit.

How it’s calculated

Both moments become UTC timestamps: the date parsed as year-month-day plus the 12-hour clock time converted to minutes (12 AM = 0:00, 12 PM = 12:00; a bare hour like 4 PM means 4:00). Remaining time = target − now in seconds, split as days = floor(s ÷ 86,400) with hours, minutes, and seconds from the remainder; totals divide the same seconds by 60 and 3,600. The target must be after the current moment, or a dash is shown.

Common mistakes

  • Typing 12:00 PM for midnight — midnight is 12:00 AM, the first minute of the new day.
  • Leaving the current date and time at stale values — update both for a true countdown.
  • Expecting DST adjustments: this counts pure clock time (86,400 s per day), so a spring-forward or fall-back hour is not added or removed.
